A five day tent protest was launched in Shengal’s Dugure village yesterday by the Shenagl Young Women’s Union and the Yazidi Youth Union for freedom of Adbullah Öcalan.
On the first day of the tent protest, the members of the Yazidi Free Women’s Movement (Kurdish: Tevgera Azadiya Jinên Êzîdî-TAJÊ) visited the tent to support the young people. The members of the TAJÊ and young people issued a joint statement in front of the tent. Then, a video about the international conspiracy against Abdullah Öcalan was screened.
The path to freedom
Şemê Remo made a speech on behalf of the TAJÊ. “We, as the TAJÊ, support the tent protest of the youth. Since we learned more about the ideology and thoughts of Abdullah Öcalan, we have held protests for his freedom. We will follow his ideology and thoughts to the end. Because we know that his ideology is the path to freedom,” she said in her speech.
‘We will bring freedom together’
Caklîn Hisên, a member of the TAJÊ, also made a speech. “The freedom of leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan) is our freedom. Our young people have launched a tent protest for the freedom of leader Apo. We want to say that we always stand by our young people. As Yazidi women, we will do whatever is necessary for the freedom of leader Apo. We will bring freedom together.”
Protests will continue
Speaking to NuJINHA, Lîza Zerdeşt, member of the Shengal Young Women’s Union, said, “Our tent protest will last for five days. We will hold seminars. We have already held an exhibition to display books and photographs of leader Apo. We will hold meetings on the ideology and thoughts of leader Apo. As young women, we will continue to hold protests until we receive news from leader Apo.”
