“On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the genocide and feminicides in Şengal/Sinjar, we commemorate the women that have been killed, enslaved, abducted and who have been subjected to forced conversion.
We also commemorate and show our deepest respect to the women who fought in YPJ, YJA Star, and HPJ for their liberation and their rights, many of whom gave their lives protecting the Êzîdî community.
In particular, we salute and respect the Shengal Women’s Unit YJŞ, who are self organized in the fight against the still ongoing attacks and to protect all women in the Shengal region and the entire Êzîdî community.
Following the call of TAJÊ to show solidarity we are joining the campaign “Against Feminicides – Be the Voice of Self-Defense,” the Freedom Movement of Êzîdî Women in Şengal/Sinjar (TAJÊ / Tevgera Azadiya Jinên Êzidî) launched an international campaign on March 8, 2024, International Women’s Day.
We thank our italian friends from Accademia della modernità democratica and Rete Jin, our german friends from CENI e.V. which is the kurdish women’s office for peace, the internationalist communes of the youth and the members working in public relations.
We, as women from Europe and as women of the Êzîdi and Kurdish Diaspora, send our deepest solidarity to our friends in Shengal and Kurdistan. As united women against feminicide, patriarchy and fascism we follow the path of the free women. As Rêber Apo said, the 21.Century is the century of the women’s revolution. From Germany to Italy to Kurdistan we say: Jin Jiyan Azadî.
