Yazidi and Arab women held a march in Shengal to protest the isolation imposed on Kurdish leader Abdullah \u00d6calan. \u201cHis freedom is our freedom,\u201d the women shouted.<\/p>\n

Last evening, the Yazidi Free Women’s Movement (Tevgera Azadiya Jin\u00ean \u00caz\u00eed\u00ee-TAJ\u00ca) held a march from Shengal\u2019s Xelef village to Bar\u00ea village with the participation of hundreds of Yazidi and Arab women to protest the isolation imposed on Kurdish leader Abdullah \u00d6calan, who has been imprisoned since February 1999 in \u0130mral\u0131 Prison. After the march, Riham Hico, a coordinating member of TAJ\u00ca, made a speech.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis freedom is our freedom\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe, as the women of Shengal, want to say that we started to get to know ourselves after learning the ideology of leader Apo (Abdullah \u00d6calan) and that is how we got our freedom. His freedom is our freedom. We will never be free until he has his physical freedom. We promise to strengthen our struggle and resistance,\u201d Riham Hico said in her speech.<\/p>\n

Activist Em\u015f\u00ea Korkork\u00ee, one of the women attended the march, demanded the end of the policies of torture and isolation in Turkey’s prisons. \u201cWe, as the women of Shengal, we send our greetings from Shengal to \u0130mral\u0131. Leader Apo made great efforts for Yazidi women,\u201d she told NuJINHA.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will not accept slavery\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Another woman attending the march, Filuz \u015eengali said, \u201cWe never accepted slavery and we will not accept. Leader Apo gave us the key to protect ourselves from slavery.
