People of Shengal: We will protect the Revolution in Rojava
The people of Shengal held a march to protest the attacks of the occupying Turkish state on North and East Syria. “We will protect the Revolution in Rojava as the people of Rojava protected us,” they said.
Yesterday, Yazidi and Arab people held a march in Shengal to protest the ongoing Turkish attacks both on North and East Syria and the Kurdistan Region. During the march, the people chanted slogans such as “Long live the Revolution in Rojava” and “Death to betrayal”. The march started in front of the building of the Peoples’ Assembly in Sinûnê and ended at the Mam Zekî crossroads. After the march, Xezal Reşo, Co-chair of the Shengal Democratic Autonomous Assembly, read a press statement on behalf of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.
“We stand by the people of Rojava”
Xezal Reşo called on the Iraqi government and the international community to “Raise their voices against the attacks of the Turkish state on Rojava and Başûrê Kurdistan. We also call on the representatives of Human Rights Organizations and Iraqi parliament to break their silence. Why does the Iraqi government remain silent against the Turkish violations and attacks in its territory? All interested parties must immediately take a stand against the attacks. The Iraqi Foreign Ministry had said at the UN meeting that the Turkish state should withdraw its military bases from the Iraqi territory. Everyone demands this. The Turkish state must withdraw its military forces from the Iraqi territory.” Underlining that the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria and the people of Shengal will always stand by the people of Rojava, Xezal Reşo demanded that a clear stance must be determined instead of issuing only statements.
TAJÊ condemns Turkish attacks
The Yazidi Free Women’s Movement (Kurdish: Tevgera Azadiya Jinên Êzîdî-TAJÊ) members Şemê Remo and Edûl Şemo also made speeches condemning the Turkish attacks on Rojava and the Kurdistan Region. They called on people not to remain silent against the Turkish attacks.
“We will resist against the attacks”
In her speech, Şemê Romo condemned the ongoing Turkish attacks and said, “The occupying Turkish state aims to destroy the strong will of the Kurdish people. The Revolution in Rojava is a women’s revolution. The ideology in Rojava was formed by the philosophy of leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan). The people govern themselves based on this ideology. The Turkish state uses chemical weapons against the guerrillas; it uses its warplanes to attack Shengal and Rojava. As the mothers and women of Shengal, we will always resist the attacks. During the genocide against us, Yazidis, the people of Rojava supported us and shared their food with us. We are alive today thanks to them. We will do whatever we can for the people of Rojava.”
“The people of Rojava should know very well that we, as the mothers of Shengal, always stand by them. We are ready to do whatever it takes for Rojava,” Edul Şemo said in her speech.
