Call to strengthen struggle against attacks on Shengal

Turkish state attacked Shengal yesterday afternoon by using drones. The attack killed three members of the Shengal Resistance Units (YBŞ). The members of the Yazidi Free Women’s Movement (Kurdish: Tevgera Azadiya Jinên Êzîdî-TAJÊ) reacted to the ongoing Turkish attacks on Shengal and condemned the silence of the Iraqi government against the attacks.

Sînem Îbrahîm, member of the TAJÊ, expressed her condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the Turkish drone attack. “The silence of the Iraqi government against the Turkish attacks on Shengal is unacceptable. As the Yazidi community, we should take a radical stance against the Iraqi government because the Iraqi government allows the attacks to be carried out against us and this is a shame of the Iraqi government,” she said.

‘We will strengthen our resistance’

Sînem Îbrahîm emphasized that they would strengthen their defense and resistance against attacks. “As the Yazidi community, we must protect our faith, culture and lands more than ever in order to give the necessary response to our enemies. We must defend and strengthen our organizations and institutions to have a strong stance. Our enemies must know very well that we will be stronger because we experienced a genocide and lost our people so that we could govern ourselves in an autonomous system.”

Emşê Merwan, another member of the TAJÊ, called on all Yazidis to return to their homeland so that they would strengthen their struggle against the ongoing attacks on Shengal together.
